Qu’est-ce que le dipylidium caninum?

C’est un parasite, plus précisément : un ver plat (taenia) qui vit dans les intestins des chiens et des chats. Il possède plusieurs segments : beiges et mobiles. Ils ont la capacité de sortir seuls de l’anus de votre animal et de ramper sur les surfaces.Les segments renferment les oeufs du parasites, les larves des puces les ingèrent et lorsqu’elles deviendront des puces adultes et se mettront dans le pelage de vos animaux. Lorsqu’ils se toiletteront, ils vont se contaminer en ingérant les puces.

Les signes d’infestation

Le signe du traineau : votre compagnon se frotte le derrière au sol
La présence de structures ressemblant à des grains de riz dans les selles ou sur les zones de couchage (fauteuils, paniers, couvertures) est caractéristique et justifie la vermifugation des animaux.

Traitement et prévention

Une vermifugation et un traitement anti-puces et anti-tiques devront être fait régulièrement ; à voir avec votre vétérinaire traitant.

Wat is Dipylidium caninum?

Het is een parasiet, meer precies: een lintworm (Taenia) die leeft in de darmen van honden en katten. Het heeft verschillende segmenten: beige en mobiel. De segmenten bevatten de eitjes van de parasiet, de larven van de vlooien nemen ze op en wanneer ze volwassen vlooien zijn, kruipen ze in de vacht van uw huisdieren. Als ze zichzelf verzorgen, besmetten ze zichzelf door de vlooien op te eten.

Tekenen van besmetting

Sleetje rijden: je metgezel wrijft met zijn achterste over de grond
De aanwezigheid van structuren die lijken op rijstkorrels in de uitwerpselen of op de slaapplaatsen (stoelen, manden, dekens) is kenmerkend en rechtvaardigt de ontworming van de dieren.

Behandeling en preventie

Regelmatige ontworming en vlooien- en tekenbehandeling moeten worden uitgevoerd; dit moet worden besproken met uw dierenarts.

The segments contain the eggs of the parasite, the larvae of the fleas ingest them and when they become adult fleas and put themselves in the coat of your pets. When they groom themselves, they will contaminate themselves by ingesting the fleas.
